Water & Public Works Laborer

The Town of Dugger, IN is looking for a self-motivated, dependable, and hard-working individual to join our team as a Town Maintenance Worker . This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in a job well done and enjoys working outdoors, solving problems, and helping maintain the essential services that keep our town running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

Assist with the maintenance and operation of the town's water system (e.g., reading meters, repairs, monitoring performance). Perform seasonal and year-round maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, snow removal, pothole patching, minor street repairs, etc. Operate and maintain small & heavy duty equipment such as mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, backhoe, etc. Keep town facilities and public spaces clean, safe, and well-maintained. Take initiative to identify and complete tasks without constant supervision. Respond to emergency utility or maintenance issues when needed (including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays). Collaborate with other town staff and communicate effectively with supervisors and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license. Familiarity with utility systems and equipment. Ability to use tools and equipment effectively. Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines. Basic mechanical skills or experience in construction, landscaping, or utility work is helpful. Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work on your feet for extended periods, and handle outdoor tasks in heat, cold, and rain.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, with occasional after-hours emergency response.
