The City of Clinton is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Full-Time Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) in the Water & Sewer Division. Under occasional supervision, this position performs installation, maintenance, and repair work involving potable water lines, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewer systems, appurtenances, pumping stations, and lift stations throughout the City of Clinton service area. The position also operates various heavy equipment, machinery, and tools necessary to complete daily operational and maintenance tasks. Work is primarily focused on sanitary sewer system operations; however, employees may also be assigned duties within the water distribution system as needed. This position reports directly to the Water & Sewer Division Manager or designee. Minimum Requirements Requirements include, but are not limited to: Applicant must possess a four-year high school diploma or an acceptable GED Applicant must be at least 18 years of age Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License Must obtain a minimum Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within two years of hire (current CDL holders preferred) Requires strong customer service and oral/written communication skills Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather and climatological conditions year-round Must be able to perform related duties as assigned CDL holders are subject to DOT regulations, including random drug and alcohol testing Position is classified as non-exempt Applicant must successfully complete: Pre-employment physical Pre-employment drug screening All applicable background checks Join a team dedicated to serving the community through essential water and sewer operations while building a rewarding career in public service.
