Residential Eating Disorder Care Program Location:
Saylorsburg PA Schedule:
Part-time weekends/PRN weekends
Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN within our Eating Disorder Care Program plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to individuals suffering from eating disorders. As a crucial member of our healthcare team, the RN will provide expert clinical support, administer medical treatments, and contribute to the overall well-being and recovery of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
Conduct thorough initial assessments of patients, including physical and psychological evaluations. Monitor patients' vital signs, nutritional intake, and overall health status regularly. Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patients' conditions or medical emergencies.
Medication Management:
Administer prescribed medications, including psychotropic medications, and ensure accurate documentation. Monitor medication side effects and collaborate with the healthcare team to adjust treatment plans as needed.
Nutritional Support:
Collaborate with dietitians and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized meal plans.
Therapeutic Support:
Assist in the implementation of therapeutic interventions and group therapy sessions. Foster a supportive and empathetic environment for patients, promoting a sense of safety and trust.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting patient assessments, interventions, and progress. Report any significant changes in patients' conditions to the healthcare team and relevant stakeholders.
Collaborative Care:
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and dietitians, to develop and execute comprehensive treatment plans. Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment adjustments.
Patient and Family Education:
Provide guidance on post-discharge care and resources for continued support.
Safety and Crisis Management:
Ensure a safe environment for patients, including monitoring for any self-harm behaviors. Respond effectively to crises and follow established protocols for patient safety.
Professional Development:
Stay current with developments in the field of eating disorders and mental health through continuing education and training.
Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN in the state of Pennsylvania. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Experience or strong interest in the field of eating disorders and mental health. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
