1st Shift Position Reports to: WHMG•OB/GYN Manager Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will perform high-quality ultrasound examinations while ensuring patient comfort and collaborating closely with physicians to support accurate diagnoses. Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, producing high-quality images for physician interpretation. Clearly explain imaging procedures to patients, helping to create a calm and supportive environment. Prepare and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper calibration and adherence to safety and sanitation standards. Apply ultrasound gel and position patients correctly to obtain optimal imaging results. Assess image quality in real time and adjust techniques to ensure diagnostic accuracy. Work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare staff by providing images and relevant observations. Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including procedure details and clinical notes Operate ultrasound equipment to capture images of organs, tissues, and blood flow Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly Review patient medical history to determine appropriate imaging techniques Analyze images for quality and ensure they are suitable for diagnostic purposes Identify normal vs. abnormal findings and communicate preliminary observations to physicians Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment Follow safety standards and infection control protocols Keep accurate patient records and documentation Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field. Current certification (e.g., ARDMS) preferred or required based on facility standards. State licensure may be required depending on location Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills. Commitment to patient care, safety, and confidentiality. Physical Requirements Ability to lift or assist patients weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive scanning motions. Comfortable bending, reaching, and repositioning patients as needed. Ability to operate and move imaging equipment in a clinical setting.
