Secondary Coverage:
Prior wildland firefighting experience is required. Willing to live/work in remote locions (volile/unpredictable). Some Fire positions may have Conditions of Employment such as a valid ste driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL); pre-appointment and random drug testing; or a physical or medical examinion. Qualificions In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualificions requirements as defined below by the closing de of the announcement. For the GW-11 grade : You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GW-09 in the Federal service.Examples of Specialized Experience :
Assisted in developing and evaluing prescribed fire plans or fire management plans; Performed da collection and evaluion of fire hazard risks; Utilized fire planning analysis systems, models, and decision support systems; and Provided analysis and advice to resolve fire and aviion management issues. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment. This is a secondary firefighter position under 5 USC 8336 (CSRS) and 8412(d) (FERS). Prior wildland firefighting experience is required. There is no age limit for entry into secondary positions. Firefighter retirement coverage of the incumbent depends upon his or her individual work history. Additional informion This is a temporary promotion not-to-exceed 1 year, and may be extended up to 5 years without further competition or may end earlier due to lack of work or funds, or the discretion of the Hiring Manager. This temporary promotion may be made permanent without further competition. If the temporary promotion is not made permanent, you returned to your permanent position of record with any increases th would have been received if not temporarily assigned. If it is not possible to be returned to the prior position, you should be placed in another position in your agency for which qualified, the same grade and geographic locion as before. Should this not occur, reduction-in-force procedures may be necessary. If you are selected, we will work with you and your supervisor on an agreement covering return rights so every effort made to return you to a properly classified position for which qualified and the same grade level.
