Wireless Service Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following: Site Survey new subscribers 1. Validate line of sight from subscriber to a local tower(s) and/or repeater locations, including roof top or wall mount access. Validation may require accessing a man-lift to get the proper height from their roof top, or some other structure such as a silo, pole, or tree. 2. Test signal, connection quality, and speed test to validate suitability for quality service. 3. Engineer, or coordinate with the subscriber proper equipment location, cable run arrangements, locating PoE and Wi-Fi routers coverage. 4. Determine any special installation equipment needs. 5. Document detailed results in operating system. Install new Internet services 1. Configure any needed equipment for the install. a. Mount radio/antenna(s) in determined location(s). b. Align antenna(s) to get the best signal and quality possible. c. Run outdoor shielded ethernet/fiber cable(s) from antenna(s) to proper indoor location. d. Connect cables to PoE for power and test proper ethernet quality and speeds. e. Connect customer managed Wi-Fi router and test ethernet and Wi-Fi Internet speed tests. 2. Assist subscribers with all their Wi-Fi devices. 3. Document detailed results in operating system As needed support, upgrades, and repairs 1. As needed, diagnose and restore proper service on-site. 2. Replace, realign, or repair any faulty wireless equipment, routers, or cabling 3. Document detailed results in the operating system. Other Duties assigned by ITX Management or the President/CEO

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Technology experience a plus. Building construction or maintenance experience preferred. Tower climbing certification preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Strong knowledge of general building construction and maintenance. 2. Ability to safely climb ladders, use common tools, work on roofs, in lifts, and at heights. 3. Strong problem-solving skills. 4. Ability to work well with internal staff and to effectively communicate with subscribers. 5. Ability to work unmanaged throughout the day and be organized and well prepared. 6. Must be team oriented and take any team role as needed. 7. A Valid PA Driver's License is required. Physical Requirements At times heavy work can be required for the Wireless Service Technician. At times lifting up to 50 pounds of force can be common such as handling tall ladders and lifting cinder blocks for roof mounts. Job requires standing, crawling, climbing, bending, pulling, and reaching some of the time. Skills in developing plans, which at times requires "thinking out of the box". Must be able to present information to others and work under stress. Exposure to mechanical hazards, electrical, burns, confined space, high wireless RF, and operating machinery. Some exposure to odors, dust, and dirt. Proper PPE safety equipment required. Must be able to communicate with individuals. Driver's license required. Must be able to read, write and do arithmetic.
