Job Description
Overview This position is responsible for overseeing all yard personnel. In addition, the Yard Labor Supervisor must maintain a safe, clean and well-organized lumber yard, load and unload lumber and/or building supplies, and operate a forklift. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Essential Functions Oversee the yard areas of responsibility for that location Check loads for quality assurance on the ground after being built but before they are loaded onto delivery trucks Load and unload lumber and building supplies from delivery trucks Ensure inside hardware is loaded onto the truck Verify BOL with store PA / Verify quantities on incoming freight Lead and directs the work of other employees - assign yard associates daily tasks and ensure completion Train new yard associates on job responsibilities Ensure daily forklift maintenance is conducted, that tools and equipment are in good working order, and that chemicals are handled properly Keep management aware of any delays or discrepancies Keep lumber yard clean, well-organized, and safe Supervisory Responsibility This position oversees all the yard associates for their location. Work Environment This position requires working in a highly precarious place and near moving mechanical parts. This position requires working outdoors and being exposed to wet, humid, extremely hot or extremely cold conditions. This position is exposed to vibrations, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. Physical Demands This position requires frequent standing, walking, hearing, use of hands and arms, grasping, handling, feeling, climbing, balancing, crawling, stooping kneeling, crouching, physical stamina, manual dexterity, and ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Rarely this position will be sitting. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work depend on hours of operations, willing to work 48 hours per week. May require working irregular and/or extended hours.
