Yard Supervisor (Heavy Equipment Operator / Material Handler working supervisor)

Pay Rate:

$40 - $42 per hour Most be local, no per diem. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening, in accordance with applicable laws.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Working Yard Supervisor to lead and support operations at our outdoor material laydown yard. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both supervisory responsibilities and physical labor. The supervisor will operate heavy equipment, manage inventory flow, and ensure yard operations run efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills , extensive experience operating large wheel loaders (35,000 lbs with forks) , and the physical ability to lift 50 lbs consistently .

Key Responsibilities:

Supervisory Duties:

Lead a team of equipment operators and material handlers Coordinate daily yard operations and job assignments Ensure safety compliance and proper equipment usage Monitor work quality and provide hands-on guidance and training Serve as primary point of contact for onsite operations Assist with resolving material discrepancies and logistics issues

Operational/Material Handling Duties:

Operate heavy equipment including telehandlers and large wheel loaders Load/unload and move materials manually and with equipment Verify incoming deliveries for accuracy in quantity and quality Track inventory and maintain organized yard layout Label and store materials in designated areas Secure loads for transport using strapping, padding, or bracing Assemble crates or packaging using hand tools Perform basic maintenance on material handling equipment Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Requirements:

Proven experience supervising crews in a yard, construction, or material handling environment Experience operating large heavy equipment (35k lbs wheel loader with forks, telehandler, etc.) Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs consistently Comfortable working outdoors in a physical, labor-intensive role Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to work overtime and adjust to changing priorities Reliable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
