Year-Round Housekeeper & Property Caretaker Private Family Beach Home Location:
Bethany Beach, DE; Oceanfront home
Schedule:
Weekly in-season; reduced/flexible off-season
Compensation:
Premium, above-market pay (DOE)
Type:
Long-term, year-round position About the Property We are a private family looking for a reliable, detail-oriented housekeeper and light property caretaker for our beach vacation home. This is not a short-term rental — the home is used by our family and occasional guests, so the work is steady, the expectations are clear, and the environment is calm. We want to build a long-term relationship with someone we trust to treat the home as their own. What You'll DoIn-Season (peak months) Weekly maintenance cleaning — full clean of the home including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, floors, glass, and outdoor living spaces (decks, porches, outdoor shower). Family/guest turnovers — laundering and changing linens and towels, restocking essentials (paper goods, toiletries, basic pantry items), and a final walk-through before arrivals. Light vendor coordination — letting in and overseeing scheduled service providers (landscaping, pool/spa service, pest control, HVAC, occasional repair visits) and confirming work is completed. Eyes on the property — flagging anything that looks off (leaks, pests, wear-and-tear, appliance issues) before it becomes a real problem. Off-Season (modified role) The job continues year-round in a reduced capacity: Routine property checks — periodic drive-bys and interior walk-throughs to confirm everything is secure and in good order. Storm prep & post-storm inspections — securing outdoor furniture, checking on the home before/after major weather events, and reporting any damage promptly. Vendor coordination — continuing to meet service providers as needed (winterization, off-season maintenance, deliveries). Light cleaning between family visits and a deeper refresh before the season reopens. Who We're Looking For Experienced in housekeeping, estate care, or vacation home management Trustworthy, discreet, and respectful of a private family's space Strong attention to detail — you notice the small things and care about them Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license Comfortable being a primary local point of contact for vendors References from prior private households, property managers, or hospitality roles Local to (or based near) the property year-round
Nice-to-haves:
Familiarity with high-end finishes, appliances, and linens Basic handyman comfort (changing bulbs, batteries, filters; resetting breakers) Bondable / open to a background check What We Offer Premium, above-market pay — we pay well because we want the right person and we want them to stay. Autonomy — once we've established trust, you'll run the day-to-day on your own while reporting in and communicating regularly with the estate manager.
