Job Description

Job Summary:
The Youth Development Facilitator will provide youth development activities for students affected by the Flint Water Emergency in four core areas (Academics, Leadership, Health and
S.T.E.A.M.
) to students enrolled in after school and summer programs in one or more Genesee County school districts for the Bridges to Success program. Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to): 1. Must be able to engage students in meaningful learning opportunities. 2. Maintains a positive classroom atmosphere by utilizing effective classroom management methods. 3. Maintains a physically and emotionally safe program environment. 4. Participates in training related to the program and the delivery of youth development activities. 5. Works closely with program coordinator to provide activities that support the learning environment of the school. 6. Works with students to build leadership skills and to promote positive youth development. 7. Leads activities in daily or weekly sessions for K-12 grade students in the GISD Bridges to Success program. 8. Must be able to embed Common Core Standards into program activities. 9. Adheres to program documentation requirements. 10. Works cooperatively with program coordinator to build collaborative relationships with building staff, parents, students and community representatives. 11. Assists in recruiting participants for program activities. 12. Organizes and maintains program resources including curriculum, food, supplies and equipment. 13. Works with coordinator to schedule, plan and implement all programs and activities. 14. Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with students, school staff and the building principal, as well as the staff of
GISD. 15.
Attends required staff meetings. 16. Maintains accurate records, including attendance, timesheets, and other required documentation. 17. Works with the program coordinator to identify current and future program goals. 18. Maintains positive school/community relations. 19. Works with small groups to improve the academic success of participating students. 20.Assesses student data to determine educational needs. 21. Collaborates with school teachers to plan and deliver instruction to students. 22. Must demonstrate improved academic and behavior outcomes with students. 23. Consistently models Win-Win leadership.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Valid Michigan teacher's certificate or Michigan School Age Youth Development Credential required.
Experience:
Minimum of three years' related experience in a leadership position or with an organization responsible for providing services to families and children preferred. A minimum of two years of experience working with youth is preferred.
Skills/Other:
Demonstrated competence in building care and maintenance of facilities required. Demonstrated competence in repair and maintenance of heating and cooling equipment, buildings, plumbing, hot water boilers, lawn and grounds care, electrical and mechanical repair required. Ability to accept supervision direction, follow oral and written instructions and implement maintenance plans in accordance with program policies and procedures. Ability to utilize district technology and maintain proficiency, as required skills sets change with technology and/or the needs of the program. Demonstrated dependability, trustworthiness, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a variety of custodial/maintenance-related assignments in order to meet the changing needs of the program required. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work flexible workday and workweek in order to meet the changing needs of the program. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines.
