Woonsocket Overview:
The Youth Summer Camp Arts Education Assistant is responsible for effectively supporting classroom-based instruction led by a professional artist and educator to fulfill the mission of Riverzedge Arts Project at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island, Woonsocket Clubhouse. The Arts Education Assistant will support lesson implementation during a school-age youth arts education summer camp for youth ages 7-9 (12:30pm-2:30pm) and 10-12 (3:00pm-5:00pm), and will assist with planning, lesson implementation, and classroom management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist Arts Education Instructor in creating and teaching art lessons for youth. Create an environment that highlights the achievement of youth and promotes a sense of confidence, usefulness and sense of belonging. Ensure a healthy, safe, positive and fun environment for all youth. Demonstrate initiative and strong leadership skills. Serve snacks and/or meals as needed. Serve as a point of contact when the site coordinator/supervisor is unavailable.
Qualifications:
Must be 16+ and have a strong interest in art and leading group activities for youth. Group leadership skills, and understanding of group dynamics. Successfully pass all BCI requirements. Experience working with children is preferred but not required. Must be or become certified in CPR, First Aid and AED. Required to sit, stand, talk, or hear; via computer, telephone, or in person as needed. Frequently required to engage in active play with children, including bending, reaching, running, and participating in age-appropriate physical activities and sports. Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. May be required to work indoors and outdoors in varying environment conditions.
