Starting Rate of Pay:
$ 25.64/hourPOSITION OVERVIEW
Through education and driving skills development, become proficient in the operation of a tractor trailer combination. Responsibilities include non-driving duties such as forklift operation and working the dock.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucksPerform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipmentHook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailerPerform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including, but not limited to, forklift, pallet jack, and hand truckSecure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including, but not limited to, pallets, straps, and ropeRecoup/repair damaged freight when necessaryVerify and complete required documentation and reportsCollect checks for freight charges and maintain related documentation, as requiredComply with hazardous material regulations and company procedures, and confirm placarding matches hazmat shipments, as requiredCommunicate with and follow Dispatch instructions regarding events including, but not limited to, delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc., as requiredDemonstrate internal and external customer serviceCommunicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needsAsk customers for additional business, and provide leads to sales for potential new opportunitiesWhere operationally necessary, perform job duties of a road driver or freight handlerChain vehicle tires, as requiredComply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/proceduresPerform other duties as requiredDisclaimer:

Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classificationMust possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standardsMust meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulationsAbility to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculatorBasic written and verbal communication skillsAbility to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of approximately 100 pounds, several times a dayAbility to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds, several times a weekAbility to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truckAbility to follow instructions and complete required trainingAbility to work independently and/or as a team memberWORKING CONDITIONS
