1:1 Teacher Aide/BehaviorTechnician-School Program Cerebral Palsy of Westchester Rye Brook, NY Job Details Full-time $19 - $21 an hour 14 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Childcare Writing skills Basic math English High school diploma or GED Driver's License Working with children Direct support Full Job Description About us The BRIDGE School at Rye Brook (a division of Cerebral Palsy of Westchester) is seeking a full time 1:1 Teachers Aide/Behavior Technician working to support students with academic, behavioral, social and emotional needs. Lifting and other physical duties are associated with this position. Prior experience preferred. Implements behavioral support plans for assigned students. Assists students with the daily schedule in the classroom and daily activities along with classmates. Consistent with daily practice of communication skills through the students preferred mode of communication. Help students with sensory needs and/or breaks when needed. Provide students with rewards/motivators, times, visuals, and anything else to make their day successful. Follow the teacher's activities. Interact effectively with co-workers and students. Attend staff meetings. Collect IEP and/or behavior data as outlined by the child's team Actively participate with other students in the classroom when assigned student is independently engaged or absent. Check in with site director for daily duties when assigned student is absent •
QUALIFICATIONS
The ability to establish positive relationships with co-workers and parents and students. Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communications skills Must be able to handle emotionally charged situations. Has the ability to train other people to apply behavior management techniques effectively.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or G.E.D required- College degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with children with disabilities preferred. Licenses/Certification Certification as a Teacher Assistant or RBT certification preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to employees' questions. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must have the ability to transfer individuals independently, with a mechanical lift or with the assistance of another staff person. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Requirements include:
Fluent in English speaking and writing Caring and patient with children with special needs
Desired Experience:
Previous experience working with children with special needs(behavioral concern): 1 year or more (Preferred) Previous work as a teacher aide: 1 year or more (Preferred)
