PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provides for the instruction of students with disabilities. Develops, implements and coordinates individualized education programs for students enrolled in Special Education and general education programs.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Assists in identifying and evaluating individuals with special needs.
• Instructs students with special needs.
• Adjusts educational programs to assist the student in becoming as independent as possible.
• Adapts classroom environment and prepares specialized materials to meet the needs of individual students.
• Evaluates daily performances of each student and adjusts future instruction accordingly.
• Evaluates total program of each student through the use of tests/ observations.
• Confers with parents at school, by phone, in writing and in making home visits.
• As appropriate, develops individual transition plans, supports community-based instruction and supports students in integrated school environments.
