Position Description:
Provide direct therapy, instructional support and consultation around communication disorders and autism spectrum disorder. The focus of the position is to develop, implement and monitor speech language services for students. Additionally, the SLP will work with the identification of students with communication disorders of the Child Find regulations of IDEA. Planning, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic programs for students with speech, language, or autism spectrum disorder needs are primary functions of this position. Establish good relations with parents, students, and staff; attend all pertinent faculty, parent and school meetings; other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities Include:
Attending to the special needs of students; Modeling high expectations for student achievement and behavior; Creating an environment that maximizes student learning with a focus on character development; Developing partnerships that enhance student learning; Modeling and teaching respect with an awareness of diversity; Demonstrating continuous professional growth.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of best practices in evaluation of students with communication disorders; Experience in developing individualized education plans to enhance communication skills; Experience in teaching social interaction; Knowledge of current research and range of educational practices in the fields of speech language pathology and autism spectrum disorder; Possess strong team and interpersonal skills; Degree in speech language pathology; Hold appropriate TSPC licensure for communication disorders or speech-impaired endorsement and/or State Board Examiner License for Speech-Language Pathology; Masters Degree preferred; A professional educator in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District joins a community of professionals who embrace the district's mission and six guiding vision themes: How do we create learning communities for the greatest thinkers and most thoughtful people for the world?
