POSITION

Opening for (1) one Health Aide position. This is a full-time (0.9), school year position at Chino Valley High School and includes benefits. The Chino Valley Unified School District is on a 4-day work week Monday through Thursday, 9 hours per day.

DESCRIPTION

Primary responsibility will be to assist the District Nurse in clerical and health care services and assist.

Duties are varied and include:

providing first aid to students and personnel, filing health records, completing reports, answering the phone as well as electronic communications and other duties as required. The position also involves a wide variety of secretarial duties in support of the Principal, staff, students and community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a current EMT certification, high school diploma or its equivalent with (1) one year experience preferred. Must have a current CPR card and have completed a Red Cross First Aid course or its equivalent. Must be able to assist with lifting objects 20-50 pounds short distances (20 feet or less). Previous experience in an office and/or school setting and working with children experience is desired.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides support to the staff to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment. Provide emergency care, first aid, and health office services at school sites in keeping with State regulations and school policy. Maintains student health records including immunizations, religious exemptions and medical exemptions and notifies the District Nurse of any deficiencies. Perform vision and hearing screening in keeping with State regulations and school policy. Referrals to appropriate medical professionals for students in need. Ensure supplies and equipment necessary for student care are ordered and stored. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Have personal communication skills and traits that promote a child friendly atmosphere, and be able to maintain confidentiality. Computer literacy. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and safety procedures. Be able to communicate orally and in writing with students and their families. Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students. Student supervision skills. Access to and knowledgeable in emergency procedure. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
