Job Description
Durango School District is accepting applications for Instructional Specialist - EdTech position for the 2026/2027 school year. Existing Durango School District 181 Day Licensed Staff hired into this position will be placed on the Cell they currently reside on times 1.05 index plus an additional 10 days for the total salary, per the current Licensed Compensation System guidelines. New hires to the District will be placed within the range below. Schedule to be set by the Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Begins August 4, 2026.

In Durango School Distric we believe that all students can learn to proficiency or above through intentionally planned, standards-aligned instruction. We want students to own their learning, act on it, and impact their community. The Instructional Specialist - EdTech is a coaching and leadership role designed to turn this belief into a classroom reality. This position is not primarily about hardware troubleshooting, device setup, or teaching basic application features. Instead, this role functions as a dynamic, K-12 instructional partner who works directly in classrooms to model, co-teach, and innovate. The Specialist empowers teachers and students to leverage diverse instructional technology tools to create, design, and innovate in strict alignment with the Colorado Academic Standards.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive student success through embedded daily co-teaching, unit planning, and real-time modeling of high-impact technology integration in K-12 classrooms.Standards-Based Design & Creation:
Collaborate with educators to design and deliver educational technology initiatives aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards, moving student technology use away from passive consumption and toward active, creative production.Future-Ready Literacy Leadership:
Lead the integration of advanced and emerging technologies—including Generative AI, AI literacy, media literacy, robotics, coding, and computational thinking—ensuring ethical, equitable, and highly effective instructional use.Cross-Curricular Liaison:
Serve as an active connective tissue between school leadership, Curriculum and Technology Departments,, grade-level teams, department chairs, and learning specialists to ensure seamless, innovative curriculum and assessment coordination across all buildings.Culture of Risk-Taking & Citizenship:
Promote the continued development of the district's digital citizenship program while modeling resilient risk-taking and modern pedagogical practices. Lead the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI literacy into K-12 instruction, ensuring appropriate, ethical, and effective use of AI tools by both students and staff.Systems & Compliance Responsibilities:
Fulfill standard professional expectations including prompt attendance, required reporting, care of district property, mandated child abuse reporting, and adherence to Board and District policies. Other duties as assignedEducation & Training Minimum:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.Preferred:
Extensive education and/or training in Thinking Strategies and/or the Visible Thinking instructional model.EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of related experience in education (minimum three years of classroom teaching preferred). Proven track record of designing and delivering professional development for adults through modeling, one-on-one coaching, small groups, and large-group facilitation. Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse learners and teachers across various contexts.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
Colorado Teaching License. Ability to travel to different Durango SD sites within the school disttrict and within LaPlata County.TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
