Classification Title:
Laboratory Technician I Classification Minimum Requirements Associate's degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Job Description:
Performs mid‑level laboratory work supporting research and operational lab activities. The position follows established laboratory procedures and protocols under immediate supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with surgeries, routine laboratory genotyping, equipment maintenance, data documentation, and maintenance of clean and safe laboratory environments. The position provides operational support to laboratory supervisors and research staff. Performs routine laboratory tests, assists with surgeries, and behavioral procedures in mice Performs genotyping of mouse colony. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory instruments, equipment, and work areas Collects, labels, prepares, and documents biological or chemical samples and observations Prepares standard solutions, reagents, and materials for laboratory testing Maintains accurate laboratory logs, data records, and documentation Assists with ordering, receiving, stocking, and inventory of laboratory materials and supplies Works/communicates with other department laboratory staff (as needed) to collaborate on projects and meet contractual obligations Works under direct supervision and receives detailed instructions regarding laboratory tasks and procedures. This position does not supervise other employees.
Expected Salary:
$20 per hour
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Preferred Experience performing routine laboratory duties, sample preparation, and basic laboratory equipment operation.
