2ndGrade Teacher Building:
Steele Elementary / Mason Public Schools / In-Person Reports to:Principal Qualifications Required:
Must have a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and be highly qualified for the appropriate content areas and grade levels. Demonstrated knowledge of effective core content instruction and best practices. Knowledge in the use of formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction. Experience and working knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support or Response to Intervention. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of technology to support instruction and enhance student achievement. Ability to work effectively with colleagues regarding curriculum, instruction, interventions, and assessment. The ability and willingness to integrate literacy across all aspects of the curriculum. Willingness to learn new skills, to be reflective, and to acquire new knowledge along with evidence of being flexible and having superior problem solving skills. The ability to develop learning targets based on content standards, create rigorous and aligned lesson plans, and have the willingness to be reflective and adapt lesson plans accordingly based on students' needs to include providing interventions and individualized and small group instruction. Evidence of being highly organized and having excellent time-management skills. Experience with Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports.Qualifications Desired:
Experience as a successful teacher at the lower elementary level. Proven leadership qualities such as being a member of a school improvement team, a member of a curriculum council, a chair of a student organization, or the chair of a grade level or department. ZA Endorsement Preferred for Kindergarten positions. Demonstrated knowledge in the use of technology to support instruction and enhance student achievement with a background in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office products, Google Apps, Chromebooks, use of Interactive Whiteboards, and etc. as required.Job Description:
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Work with colleagues regarding content, assessment, and instruction. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports. Plan and coordinate the work of staff and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning community both inside and outside the classroom. Provide availability to students and parents for education-related purposes during and outside the instructional day. Follow the goals of students with an IEP or 504 plan.Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking. The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with the possibility of some travel to other schools or field trip locations.Work Year & Salary:
