This role is vital in ensuring the efficient movement, loading, and unloading of materials within our distribution center. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in heavy equipment operation, warehouse management systems, and materials handling procedures. The successful applicant will play a key role in maintaining smooth warehouse operations during the second shift, supporting shipping and receiving functions, and ensuring timely order fulfillment. Duties Operate various types of forklifts including reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, and pallet jacks to load, unload, and transport materials safely within the warehouse. Perform order picking using designated equipment such as pickers to fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently. Manage warehouse inventory through proper stacking, organizing, and replenishing stock while adhering to safety standards outlined by OSHA. Assist with shipping and receiving processes by verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders and preparing outgoing deliveries. Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor repairs to ensure forklifts and heavy equipment remain in optimal working condition. Support warehouse management system (WMS) data entry for inventory tracking, order processing, and location updates. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage layouts and improve overall distribution workflows. Maintain compliance with safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling procedures. Assist in training new team members on forklift operation standards and safety practices. Experience Proven experience operating forklifts such as reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar heavy equipment in a warehouse or distribution environment. Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and order processing. Prior experience with shipping & receiving operations, order picking techniques, and warehouse distribution processes. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs or troubleshooting as needed. Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations related to forklift operation and materials handling. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory management tasks. Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities during order picking or loading activities. Warehouse supervisor experience is a plus for candidates who have led or trained teams in a similar setting. Ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physical tasks associated with heavy lifting requirements. This position is integral to maintaining efficient warehouse operations while prioritizing safety standards.
