2nd Shift Transportation Dispatch

Job Overview The Operations Dispatch position is responsible for assigning drivers and vehicles, using communication tools and dispatch software to manage daily freight movement. The Dispatcher solves routing issues, tracks driver performance, and ensures deliveries meet company standards. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Dispatcher must stay organized, make quick decisions, and communicate clearly with drivers, managers, and customers. This role also involves handling paperwork, following safety and legal guidelines, and supporting company goals and values. Strong judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent service are essential. Duties Monitors and assigns drivers on-board communication equipment and vehicles to convey freight Resolves routing issues, responsible for timely delivery of freight, cancellation resolutions, and monitoring driver performance Dispatch drivers according to published schedules utilizing transportation software and on-board communication systems in order to get freight moved in a timely manner within OWL service standards Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures is critical as position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Performs a variety of complex tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight time constraints while maintain accuracy of inputs Interacts with Dispatch Supervisor, Operations Management, Senior Management, and drivers Communicate service failures regarding on-time or customer service targets with the Dispatch Supervisor, appropriate team members, and customers Monitors and directs daily dispatch activities of drivers, tractors, and trailers Accurately enters times of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of delivery Closely monitor transportation issues for delivery requirements in support of operational requirements Promptly respond to all customer requests with optimal customer service Report Equipment Breakdowns Report all accidents/incidents/injuries Review, scan and file paperwork as necessary Ensure compliance with laws and regulations Exhibit safety awareness and competence with attention to detail Communicate and serve as a role model for policies and procedures enforcement Support and serve as a role model for OWL's KPI's of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale and Environment Demonstrate and serve as a role model for
