Job Description

3/4 Learning Guide We are seeking a collaborative, curious, and instructionally grounded educator to join our 3rd/4th grade classroom community as a Learning Guide. Working closely alongside the 3/4 Lead Teacher, this person will be a genuine contributor to the life of the classroom — present, engaged, and growing into an increasingly active role in curriculum thinking and content development. This is a position for someone who leads with their teaching, brings a contagious passion for learning, and is excited to share who they are with kids across the whole school. In the 3/4 Classroom The Learning Guide works in close partnership with the Lead Teacher to support the daily rhythms and deeper work of the 3/4 community. In this role, you will: Support the facilitation of provocations and inquiry-based learning experiences, with growing opportunities to design and lead your own Collaborate with the Lead Teacher on curriculum planning, documentation, and reflection — bringing your perspective to the table as a valued thought partner Build genuine relationships with 3rd and 4th grade students, serving as a consistent, caring presence in their day Co-facilitate learning experiences that move beyond the classroom — into the community, the outdoors, and the unexpected Participate in family communication, faculty meetings, and professional learning as an active member of the teaching team Cross-Grade Support In addition to their work in the 3/4 classroom, the Learning Guide will have the opportunity to contribute to the broader school community through a dedicated cross-grade role. Depending on the candidate's background and strengths, this may take shape as: A specialty or enrichment block — for someone with a genuine passion and the ability to design and lead group instruction around it. Past and current examples at our school include cooking, horticulture, art, and STEM, though we are open to what the right person brings. Small group or individual tutoring — for someone with strong instructional skills who is excited to support students across grade levels in targeted, relationship-centered ways. We'll work with the right candidate to shape this component in a way that plays to their strengths and serves the school well. Who We're Looking For First and foremost, we are looking for a teacher. The ideal candidate has prior classroom experience and a demonstrated ability to plan and lead group instruction — someone who knows how to hold a room, read a group, and move learning forward with intention. You are collaborative by nature, open to feedback, and genuinely excited about working alongside a lead teacher as a thought partner rather than simply an extra set of hands. Beyond the classroom, you bring something distinctly yours — a passion worth sharing — and you're energized by kids across age groups. You're comfortable outside and see the natural world as one of many good places to learn, though your first instinct is always pedagogical. You don't need to have all the answers, but you should love the questions — and know how to help a group of eight-year-olds love them too. Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time hourly position with a starting range of $22-$27/hour, commensurate with experience. Full-time employees are eligible for our complete benefits package, including health coverage, professional development support, and tuition remission. To Apply Please send a cover letter, resume, and references to info@rootslearningcommunity.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
