Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician plays a hands-on role in performing daily machine and facilities maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities. This position supports production by quickly troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues, assisting with the installation and start-up of new machinery, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within cross-functional teams. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills, a focus on safety, and the ability to maintain reliable operation of both production equipment and facility systems. Responsibilities Perform daily hands-on maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, PLC (Primarily Mitsubishi), and HMI-related issues to minimize downtime and restore equipment to proper operation. Resolve production issues by repairing or replacing non-conforming components and performing necessary equipment modifications. Assist in the installation, commissioning, and start-up of new production equipment. Support facility-related repairs, preventive maintenance, and improvement projects for building and infrastructure systems. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to diagnose problems and perform accurate repairs. Adhere to strict safety policies and practices at all times and immediately report any unsafe conditions or concerns to the appropriate personnel. Ensure proper safety practices are in place, consistently followed, and actively enforced in the work area. Promote, improve, and enforce 6S and safety objectives to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for equipment reliability and production efficiency. Work with external vendors or service providers as needed to support equipment repair, maintenance, and facility projects. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications as required to support traceability and future troubleshooting. Essential Skills Proven hands-on experience in machine and facilities maintenance in a production or industrial environment. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with control systems and power circuits. Mechanical maintenance skills, including experience with mechanical assemblies and moving equipment. Experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic components. Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting to identify and resolve control-related issues. Experience working with HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) for diagnostics and adjustments. Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on production equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings. Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to follow and enforce strict safety policies and procedures. Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, production-focused environment and respond quickly to equipment issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in facilities and building maintenance, including basic repair and upkeep of facility systems. Familiarity with 6S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience participating in cross-functional teams to support process and equipment improvements. Comfort working with external vendors or service providers for specialized maintenance or installation work. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a hands-on role in a production and facility setting, working directly with industrial machinery, electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, PLCs, and HMIs. The position involves regular use of tools and equipment to perform repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance, often on the production floor and within facility areas. The environment follows strict safety policies and 6S standards, emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and safe work practices. Work hours may align with production schedules and maintenance needs, requiring flexibility to support equipment uptime and facility reliability. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Blanchester, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
