Title:
.5 FTE High School Chorus / General Music, 1 year Leave of Absence
Position Summary:
Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Chorus and General Music Teacher to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our youngest learners. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): Teaching responsibilites include: Direct High School Choruses Teach Piano class Teach A Cappella Workshop class Possible A Cappella after school stipend Possible involvement in Fall Musical Create an environment of belonging that is conducive to students' growth as learners and community members; Embrace the diversity of the students and ensure that they all have equitable opportunities for learning and belonging; Provide appropriate learning experiences in applicable content areas and SEL, guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements; Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum and strategically adjust instruction, materials, and assessments to meet the needs of students; Keep current in the developments in the content area and pedagogy; Hold high expectations for all students, provide appropriate support, and serve as a facilitator of student learning; Actively participate in the accomplishment of the goals and priorities of the Fine Arts department, school, and district; Collaborate often and effectively with colleagues regarding curriculum, assessments, and meeting individual student needs; Collaborate with colleagues in school counseling, special education, and ESL departments, as well as administration and clinical staff when necessary; Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with families/caregivers to support students' academic and social-emotional development.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience working with high school-aged children is highly preferred.
Cultural Competency:
Experience with diverse populations and a strong commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Professionalism:
Strong communication skills and the personal characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for students.
Education and Experience:
DESE Licensure:
Must hold valid Massachusetts licensure in content area
SEI Endorsement:
Evidence of Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement is mandatory.

Hours:
Position is 0.5 and will be scheduled for morning rotation
Salary:
Commensurate with the
WEA Unit A Salary Scale Example:
