Job Description

Overview The Gifted 5th Grade Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, differentiated instruction designed to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of identified gifted learners. This position fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and independent learning while aligning instruction with state standards and district curriculum expectations. The teacher creates a challenging and supportive classroom environment that encourages students to maximize their potential and develop advanced academic skills. Responsibilities Plan and deliver rigorous, differentiated instruction tailored to the needs of gifted 5th grade students. Develop lessons that promote higher-order thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and inquiry-based learning. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and enrichment opportunities to enhance student learning. Assess student performance using formal and informal data to guide instruction and monitor progress. Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement, independence, and collaboration. Collaborate with classroom teachers, intervention specialists, counselors, and administrators to support student success. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic goals, and classroom activities. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and student progress. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, curriculum planning, and district initiatives. Support and implement district policies, procedures, and educational goals. Foster social-emotional growth and encourage leadership skills among gifted learners. Supervise students in classrooms and other assigned settings to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Required and Preferred Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. Valid state teaching license appropriate for grade level assignment. Gifted Intervention Specialist endorsement/certification or ability to obtain appropriate gifted licensure as required by the state. Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and gifted education best practices. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with gifted or high-achieving students. Experience implementing project-based learning and inquiry-based instructional strategies. Knowledge of social-emotional needs specific to gifted learners. Experience integrating technology into instruction. Master's degree in Education, Curriculum, or Gifted Education. Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the school day. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms. Ability to lift, carry, and move instructional materials and classroom supplies up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate classroom technology and educational equipment. Ability to supervise students in various educational settings and respond appropriately in emergency situations. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a school classroom environment. Frequent interaction with students, staff, parents, and community members. May include occasional evening events, conferences, meetings, or school activities. Exposure to typical classroom noise levels and daily student activity. Requires maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the position. Apply Now
