Position Overview The Physics Teacher will instruct grades 7-12 in college-preparatory, honors, and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) level courses. This position includes both lecture and laboratory components, incorporating class discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on experiments to support student learning. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physics and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. A successful teacher in this role will engage and inspire students while presenting material in an accessible and meaningful way. Responsibilities and Duties Monitor, assess, and analyze student performance in physics Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community Develop, adapt, and implement instructional materials to meet diverse student needs Create a classroom environment that supports students' academic, social, and emotional development Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including grades, attendance, and student progress Evaluate and grade laboratory work, class assignments, and assessments Design, administer, and grade exams and other forms of assessment Supervise and ensure the safe and appropriate use of laboratory equipment and materials Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees Provide additional academic support to students, including extra help sessions Assist with school-wide responsibilities such as exam proctoring, study hall, lunch duty, or class coverage, as needed Support MCAS math preparation for sophomores, if assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a related physical science field Strong content knowledge in physics and the ability to teach both lecture and lab-based courses Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and classroom management abilities Commitment to continuous professional growth and student success
