About Us Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS), located in Malden, Massachusetts, was founded in 1998 and serves more than 1,750 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Student success at Mystic Valley is driven by exceptional educators, a carefully selected and faithfully implemented curriculum, high academic expectations, and a structured, traditional approach to teaching and learning. MVRCS operates on an extended academic model, with a 200-day school year and a school day that is approximately 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools. Students in grades K-12 attend in dress code, reinforcing a focused and disciplined learning environment. Together, these elements enable Mystic Valley to deliver on its mission of providing every student with access to a rigorous and enriching educational experience. Position Overview The Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering Mystic Valley Regional Charter School's Spanish program for students in Grades 7-12. Instruction is aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum in both content and methodology. At the high school level, teachers may also support coursework within the rigorous and internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Responsibilities Implement the Spanish curriculum in alignment with established school programs and, where applicable, the IB framework Teach up to five subject-area classes, each meeting daily Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction grounded in clear learning objectives Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback, including progress reports and report cards Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Languages Department, including the Department Chair, on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data analysis Maintain effective classroom management using the school's assertive discipline model Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership Bachelor's degree in Spanish (required) Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make informed decisions Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues Strong organizational and time-management skills Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment Ability to plan and deliver instruction that meets diverse student needs Knowledge of subject matter, instructional best practices, and applicable laws and regulations Reporting Structure This position reports to the Languages Department Chair and is evaluated annually as part of an annual appointment.
