Job Description
Summary Gooding Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an 8th Grade Girls Basketball Coach. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about youth sports and committed to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes. The coach will be responsible for developing the skills of the team, promoting teamwork, and instilling a love for the game of basketball. Responsibilities Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Conduct daily practices and prepare the team for games, ensuring athletes are physically and mentally prepared. Organize and oversee all aspects of the basketball program, including scheduling games and transportation. Foster a positive team culture that encourages respect, discipline, and personal growth among players. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player development. Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and promote a balance between athletics and academics. Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help each athlete improve. Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to promote the overall athletic program and school spirit. Ensure compliance with all school and league policies, including safety protocols and sportsmanship standards. Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on coaching techniques and best practices. Requirements Must pass a background check. Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level or higher. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and the ability to teach skills to young athletes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for practices and games. First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. A passion for youth sports and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of young athletes.
