Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated emergency response team as a 911 Telecommunicator, where your quick thinking and exceptional communication skills will be vital in providing critical assistance to the public and first responders. In this dynamic role, you will serve as the vital link between those in urgent need and law enforcement, fire, medical personnel, and other emergency services. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, analyze situations rapidly, and coordinate effective responses will make a tangible difference in saving lives and protecting property. This paid position offers an engaging environment where every call matters and your skills are essential to community safety. Duties Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with professional phone etiquette, providing reassurance and clear instructions to callers. Perform thorough phone triage by gathering essential information quickly, accurately assessing the nature of emergencies, and prioritizing responses accordingly. Dispatch law enforcement, fire, medical personnel, or other emergency responders efficiently using GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to pinpoint locations precisely. Maintain detailed data entry and transcription records of all calls, ensuring accuracy for reports and legal documentation. Utilize analysis skills to evaluate incoming information, identify potential threats or hazards, and coordinate appropriate responses. Manage conflict situations with negotiation and conflict management techniques to de-escalate callers when necessary. Operate complex dispatching systems while maintaining security protocols to protect sensitive information and ensure operational integrity.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, first aid procedures, and basic life support protocols. Familiarity with GIS mapping tools, GPS technology, and multi-line phone systems is essential for accurate location tracking and efficient communication. Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen actively, convey information clearly, and handle stressful situations professionally. Demonstrated typing speed and data entry accuracy to document calls swiftly without errors. Ability to analyze complex situations quickly while maintaining composure during high-pressure incidents. Prior law enforcement or dispatching experience is a plus; understanding of security protocols is beneficial.
