Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic emergency response team as a 911 Telecommunicator, where your quick thinking and compassionate communication will be the backbone of public safety. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for emergency calls, providing critical assistance to callers in distress and coordinating rapid responses from law enforcement, fire services, and medical teams. Your expertise will help save lives, manage complex situations with professionalism, and ensure community safety through efficient dispatching and clear communication. Will also be cross-trained as a jailer. Responsibilities Answer multi-line phone systems promptly and professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and conflict management skills. Gather essential information from callers using effective phone triage techniques to assess the nature and urgency of emergencies. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to accurately locate incidents and dispatch appropriate responders swiftly. Dispatch law enforcement, fire services, or medical personnel based on assessed needs, ensuring timely response to all emergencies. Maintain detailed data entry and transcription records of calls, incident reports, and dispatch logs with high accuracy and efficiency. Manage security protocols for sensitive information while operating secure multi-line phone systems in a fast-paced environment. Requirements Strong understanding of GIS, GPS, and mapping tools used in emergency dispatching. Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and handle difficult situations diplomatically. Demonstrated typing speed and proficiency in data entry, transcription, and analysis skills for accurate record keeping. Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, medical terminology, first aid protocols, and phone triage techniques. Experience with dispatching systems, multi-line phone operations, and conflict management is essential. Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to ensure 24/7 emergency coverage. Join us in making a difference every day!
