Join Tohono O'odham Community College as an Academic Advising & Career Specialist! Are you passionate about guiding students toward academic success and meaningful careers? Tohono O'odham Community College (TOCC) invites you to apply for the position of Academic Advising & Career Specialist (AACS). This is a full-time, exempt position in the Academic Advising department, reporting to the Academic Advisor Manager.
Hiring Salary Range:
$48,111 - $50,000 The AACS plays a crucial role in supporting our students by advising new, returning, and existing students on academic requirements for TOCC's programs and degrees. Beyond academic advising, you will be the primary point of contact for degree-seeking students focused on direct employment after graduation and will be instrumental in facilitating community partnerships to create those career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
As an essential member of the Student Support team, you will: Serve as an advisor for all TOCC students, providing guidance on academic programs, degrees, certificates, and transfer pathways. Monitor the advising email, directing students to campus resources and assisting with the registration process. Help facilitate advising events, transfer events, and coordinate academic advising training. Collaborate with the campus community and the Academic Advisor Manager to facilitate partnerships and provide career opportunity information to students. Support the

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
What You'll Bring Required Education and Experience:
Associate's degree or higher. Experience working with students in an educational setting. Professional customer service and administrative skills.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent customer service, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of academic programs, degrees, certificates, financial aid (especially FAFSA), internships, career choice, and transfer. Knowledgeable about confidentiality provisions of FERPA. Ability to manage multiple projects while under pressure to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as an academic or career advisor. Experience in enrollment or related areas in an institution of higher education. Ability to speak and understand O'odham and/or Spanish. Knowledge and understanding of the history and contemporary issues facing Native people.
Expected Work Hours:
Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but may require attendance at events in the evenings or on weekends.
Licensing Requirements:
Must have a valid state Driver's license with a clean driving record, successfully pass a criminal background check, and have or be able to obtain a fingerprint clearance card.
