Master's degree from accredited university with a focus in reading (preferred) Valid Texas teaching certificate Completion of Texas Reading Academies 5 years teaching experience in an elementary classroom settingSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive understanding of the science of teaching reading and structured literacy practicesMajor Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management 1. Lead development and refinement of PK-5 curriculum documents aligned to the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. 2. Implement procedures to support and aid with facilitation of the district's reading program including structured literacy practices aligned to Texas Reading Academies in PK-3 classrooms. 3. Analyze student performance data on local and state required assessments to identify trends and develop action plans to address gaps in achievement and growth. 4. Develop and conduct or arrange for staff development sessions, including sessions on delivery of instruction and enriched learning in classroom settings. 5. Conduct a continuing evaluation of the reading language arts program and implement changes based on the findings. 6. Mentor and provide ongoing support for instructional coaches and teachers. 7. Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, teachers, and other relevant individuals regarding reading initiatives. 8. Keep current withPK-5 ELAR

Facilitate, write, edit and help produce District curriculum documents in the area of PK-5 English Language Arts and Reading 10. Facilitate, write, edit, and help produce District assessments 11. Provide input and guidance on the purchasing of instructional materials and supplemental resources relevant to assigned content area. 12. Demonstrate an interest in acquiring new skills and knowledge while staying current in research and evaluation. 13. Maintain knowledge of the district's curriculum and instructional programs, scope and sequence and campus improvement plan. Policies and Procedures 14. Compile and maintain reports, records, and other required documents. 15. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Professional Growth and Development 16. Seek, accept and respond to evaluative feedback from other administrators to improve performance. 17.
