Bio-Med Science Academy is an innovative, progressive, year-round public STEM Academy that prepares students to succeed in the global economy. The Academy opened in Rootstown, Ohio in August 2012 and received formal STEM designation in April 2013. As a member of the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN), the Academy is a recognized STEM Academy along with other STEM schools across the state and the country. The Academy strives to attract highly qualified individuals with a passion and drive to rethink education to propel students into the global community with strong roots in 21st century skills. Position Overview The Academy Director is a support role in the leadership team, assisting the CAO in overseeing educational, administrative, and operational functions of the campus. This position ensures that day-to-day operations align with the Academy's strategic vision and values, with a particular focus on educational environment, administrative support, and program execution. The Academy Director will work to implement and manage high-quality STEM education programs and initiatives, contributing to the Academy's mission of fostering student success in a dynamic, evolving world. The ideal candidate will have a passion for STEM education, a record of effective instructional leadership, and a commitment to student success. Key Responsibilities - Includes but are not limited to: Instructional Leadership Oversee and manage the design and implementation of high-quality STEM-focused curriculum and instructional practices aligned with state standards. Monitor and assess student academic performance, using data-driven approaches to inform instructional strategies and improvements. Lead teacher evaluation and professional development efforts, promoting continuous growth and effective instructional practices. Foster a culture that prioritizes critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem-solving. Academy Culture and Community Engagement Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and respectful Academy environment that encourages engagement and learning. Act as a primary liaison with families and community stakeholders, building relationships to strengthen community support and participation in Academy activities. Communicate the Academy's mission and vision clearly to students, staff, and parents, promoting a strong sense of purpose and community. Operational Management Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including student safety, attendance, and behavioral policies. Oversee scheduling, classroom management, and resource allocation to ensure an effective learning environment. Collaborate with the CAO and administrative staff to manage Academy budgets, prioritize resource allocation, and monitor expenditures. Ensure that the Academy complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards. Staff and Human Resources Management Support and retain highly qualified and motivated staff, ensuring a cohesive team aligned with the Academy's mission. Conduct performance evaluations, support professional growth plans, and implement strategies to build staff morale and collaboration. Maintain a supportive environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and professional growth among all staff. Innovation and Technology Integration Champion the integration of technology in classrooms, ensuring access to digital tools that enhance learning. Manage the implementation of data management systems to track student progress and inform instruction. Manage initiatives that bring innovative teaching practices and emerging technologies into the classroom to enhance STEM education. Community Partnerships and Student Opportunities Manage partnerships with industry and higher education institutions to expand student opportunities in STEM fields. Support internships, mentorships, and other experiential learning opportunities to support students' career readiness. Engage with the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN) and other State STEM organizations to keep the Academy connected. Key Competencies Ability to inspire staff, students, and the community, aligning all with the Academy's mission. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse groups. Proficient in staff supervision, providing constructive feedback and resources to support teacher improvement. Experience designing and delivering professional development programs that support teacher growth and align with the school's mission. Demonstrated ability to oversee budgets and allocate resources efficiently. Skilled in data analysis to drive academic and operational improvements. Commitment to integrating technology and innovative teaching practices in the curriculum. Strategic thinker with the ability to address complex issues and implement solutions effectively. Able to navigate change and foster a flexible, resilient Academy environment. Qualifications Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Academy Administration, or a related field preferred. Valid Ohio Principal license or the willingness to secure one. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a school leadership role, preferably within a STEM-focused or K-12 environment preferred. Proven record of enhancing academic performance and supporting curriculum development. Strong understanding of STEM education and best practices in teaching and learning.Pay:
