Michigan Rubber Products Overview For over 30 years, Michigan Rubber Products has provided components, systems, and solutions of the highest quality to the automotive, heavy truck, recreations, off-highway equipment, government, construction, appliance, and industrial markets utilizing cutting edge technologies and a thorough integration of industrial disciplines.
Position Description Role:
Account Manager Reports to: General Manager Position Summary The Account Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships while supporting business growth opportunities for rubber-based products and engineered solutions. This role focuses on managing customer accounts, identifying new business opportunities, coordinating commercial and technical requirements, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be an entry-level professional or someone with 1-3 years of sales experience, preferably within the automotive industry, though automotive experience is not required. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow assigned customer accounts through regular communication, customer visits, and account planning
  • Develop strong relationships with customers and act as the primary point of contact for commercial matters
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing and prospective accounts
  • Coordinate customer requirements with engineering, production, and quality teams
  • Support quoting activities, pricing discussions, and commercial negotiations
  • Assist customers with product selection, specifications, and application requirements
  • Monitor project timelines and communicate updates proactively to customers
  • Support resolution of customer concerns, quality issues, and corrective actions
  • Prepare sales reports, account reviews, and pipeline updates
  • Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events as needed
  • Develop presentations and proposals for customer opportunities
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer demand
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and overall business development efforts
  • Perform any other job-related duties as requested by your manager/supervisor Physical Requirements
  • Travel to customer sites as needed
  • Move within office and industrial/manufacturing environments
  • Lift up to 25 lbs as needed
  • Work on computers for extended periods and follow safety protocols
  • Comply with safety requirements, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when required Required Skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-driven
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and manufacturing processes is a plus Preferred Skills
  • 1-3 years of sales or account management experience
  • Automotive industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments is a plus
  • Knowledge of rubber products, elastomers, or industrial components preferred Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field preferred Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $60,000 to $80,000 annually depending on candidate qualifications and previous work experience
  • Opportunity for commission pay based on performance and new business won
  • Company vehicle eligibility possible after successful completion of a one-year probationary period Travel Requirements Willingness to travel approximately 25% for customer visits, meetings, and trade shows.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
