Job Description
Company Overview Community Housing Management Corp (CHMC) provides financial oversight and management for Covenant Place, three HUD subsidized senior living properties in the mid-St. Louis County area, and for Covenant Place Foundation, a philanthropic entity that provides funding for supportive services/programs for seniors, through and supporting an onsite senior center for the residents and seniors in the community. Through growth and potential future transitions, CHMC desires to add a staff Accountant to its Finance and Accounting team. Job Overview The accountant is responsible for accounting functions related to multi-family Section 8 subsidized housing tenant properties, commercial tenants, and corporate entities. Reporting to the CFO, the Accountant will have daily interaction with property managers, leasing and compliance, programs staff, and facilities director. Responsibilities Responsible for safeguarding the assets of the organization through account analysis and regular monitoring of financial transactions, and their recording in the general, and subsidiary, ledgers in accordance with GAAP, and maintain the integrity of the financial and accounting software systems. Review and run reporting, for property management/compliance review, for subsequent submission of monthly subsidized rental revenue voucher to HUD. Ensure tenant ledgers are accurate and reconciled, along with security deposits accounting. Process cash receipts and prepare bank deposits. Record and process accounts payable and accounts receivable. Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system for bi-weekly payroll; information includes hire data, salaries, pay rate, hours worked, paid time off and holidays, tax withholding and other deductions, etc. Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger. Prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and reconcile various accounts. Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements/reporting. packages, including information for the annual outside audit. Participate in providing accounting and financial reporting information for
HUD/MHDC
requirements and inspections. Perform a wide variety of accounting analyses. Assist with system input of annual operating budgets. Responsible for archives and records management. Update Accountant duties, functions, processes and procedures. Assist management with special projects and other tasks, as assigned. This list is not comprehensive and can change/ will change with time. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required and at least two years of general accounting experience. Experience with a real estate or property management company, and/or government grants, HUD, LIHTC preferred. Accounting experience with for profit and non-profit entities preferred. Skilled in using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with Yardi Voyager (or other real estate accounting) property management, affordable and accounting software is highly desirable. Strong initiative, with the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities under deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be organized, detailed oriented and able to work cooperatively as a team in a small and cohesive organization.Job Type and Specifics:
