Start-Up / Multi-Company Operations Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounting / Bookkeeping Specialist to support the financial operations of growing start-up companies based in Upstate New York. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who is confident in handling day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities independently and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, prior accounting or bookkeeping experience, and the ability to maintain accurate financial records while supporting multiple operational needs. Key Responsibilities Maintain and manage daily bookkeeping functions for multiple start-up business entities Record and reconcile financial transactions accurately and timely Process accounts payable and accounts receivable Prepare and post journal entries Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures Maintain organized financial records and documentation Generate financial reports and assist management with financial analysis Support payroll processing and employee expense tracking as needed Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures Collaborate with leadership to improve accounting processes and efficiencies Qualifications Minimum of 2-5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience required Strong understanding of general accounting principles and bookkeeping practices Confidence and accuracy in preparing bookkeeping entries independently Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar ERP/accounting systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required with equivalent experience Preferred Qualifications Experience working with start-up or rapidly growing companies Multi-company or multi-entity accounting experience Payroll or administrative accounting support experience Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance options Paid time off (PTO) Retirement savings plan opportunities Stable, long-term growth opportunity within expanding businesses Work Environment This position is fully on-site in Owego, NY. Pay:
$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
