Falcon Drilling is a "Top-Hole" drilling company operating in the Marcellus and Utica Gas Fields in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. The Intern will be under the direction and guidance of the CFO and General Accountant assisting with daily general accounting functions, working with the Great Plains ERP Accounting software, reconciling various General Ledger accounts monthly, and other administrative duties and functions relating to the accounting and administration departments of the company as requested.
Job Responsibilities:
Match purchasing receiving documents with purchase orders and vendor invoices. Enter invoices into the Accounts payable module of Great Plains. Accumulate accounts payable documents and prepare check batches for approval and check printing. Maintain accounts payable invoice and check filing systems both in hardcopy and online electronically. Assist general accountant with month end closing entries. Reconcile monthly cash accounts. Perform account analysis and reconciliations as requested. Assist with the annual financial audit. General filing and other administrative duties including Greeting visitors, answering the phone, etc. Oher job duties as assigned.
Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities and Qualifications:
Preferably 2 nd or 3 rd year as an accounting major having successfully completed Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2. Knowledgeable of general accounting terminology. Understands the various accounting cycles, particularly the purchasing and payables cycles. Understands how to reconcile a checking account. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality of company data. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
Work Conditions & Physical Demands:
Indoor office work. Sitting for prolonged periods of time, filing documents, occasional lifting of nothing more than approximately 40 pounds. Must have transportation to our office in Carnegie, PA. Must be able to successfully pass a hair follicle drug test and background check. The position is for 10 to 24 hours per week, hours are flexible between 8AM and 5PM and we will work around your class and test schedules. The position is a 12-month position and includes work during the school year and during the summer months.
