Accounting Manager -

Manufacturing Location:

Oak Park, IL (Onsite) A growing manufacturing company in the Chicago area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and partner closely with plant leadership and operations. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing accounting and will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, managing the month-end close, and driving cost accounting processes to support operational efficiency and profitability. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in analyzing manufacturing costs, monitoring inventory, and delivering insights to leadership to improve business performance while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis (labor, material, and overhead), and inventory valuation Partner with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership to analyze production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting, including variance analysis and key performance metrics Monitor inventory processes, including cycle counts and physical inventories, ensuring accuracy and proper controls Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for the manufacturing facility Maintain and strengthen internal controls and support internal and external audit requests Lead and develop accounting staff, providing mentorship and performance management

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a manufacturing environment required Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, and production-related financial analysis Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills
