We are seeking an experienced and detailed-oriented Nonprofit Accounting Manager to join our Outsourcing team. The Accounting Manager will work under the direction of our Outsourcing Director as the lead on multiple nonprofit clients. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, a deep understanding of nonprofit financial management, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a public accounting firm environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for multiple organizations prepared by staff accountants, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, supporting audits, strengthening internal controls and month-end processes, and supervising accounting staff. This position is mostly remote but may require onsite visits to Rogers' office or the client site as needed, therefore, you must live within the DC Metropolitan area.Job Description:
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of clients' accounting operations and financial processes across multiple organizations. Attend weekly and monthly financial review meetings with clients virtually and on-site. Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Supervise, mentor, and develop Staff Accountants and other accounting personnel. Review work prepared by Staff Accountants to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards. Delegate assignments, establish priorities, and monitor deadlines to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance withU.S. GAAP.
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and reporting requirements. Monitor and track restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and donor contributions. Assist with budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, and income statement projections. Coordinate and support annual financial statement audits, Form 990 filings, and the preparation and review of 1099s. Utilize and adapt to various accounting software platforms to support client needs. Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive and professional communication. Respond to client inquiries and emails within 24-48 hours.Requirements:
.Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in public accounting. At least one year of experience working with QuickBooks Online. Experience with BILL preferred. Strong customer service and client relationship management skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented with strong documentation and follow-through skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both clients and team members. Ability to manage multiple client engagements in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. Ability to delegate tasks, provide direction, and thoroughly review work for accuracy and completeness.
