Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting various accounting functions across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in corporate and governmental/ Tribal accounting practices, with proficiency in a range of financial software and systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the integrity of financial data, support audit processes, and enhance operational efficiency through precise accounting practices. Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment issuance, and collections. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare journal entries, conduct general ledger accounting, and maintain detailed documentation for audit purposes. Utilize various accounting software to record financial transactions. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards. Support payroll management Assist with tax preparation, governmental/Tribal reporting requirements, and non-profit accounting procedures as applicable. Conduct account reconciliation for receivables, payables, general ledger accounts, and bank statements. Participate in month-end closing activities and prepare financial reports for management review. Collaborate with internal teams to improve accounting workflows and ensure data integrity across financial systems. Skills Extensive experience with accounting software Strong knowledge of GAAP principles along with governmental or non-profit accounting standards. Proficiency in technical accounting concepts including journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits. Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures. Ability to perform detailed account analysis and reconcile accounts accurately. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing is preferred. Solid understanding of payroll management systems and related processes. Strong mathematical skills combined with financial acumen for budgeting and credit analysis. Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and support audit activities. Knowledge of tax regulations related to corporate or governmental entities is advantageous.
