Accounting Specialist

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards, and supporting various accounting processes across our organization. Duties Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and compliance with company policies. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, or PeopleSoft to record transactions and generate financial reports. Conduct detailed account analysis and resolve discrepancies related to debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation. Support payroll management activities using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian while ensuring compliance with payroll regulations. Assist with tax preparation and compliance activities by maintaining accurate records of financial transactions and supporting documentation. Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls, and governmental accounting standards in all processes. Participate in internal audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting audit procedures related to financial concepts and internal controls. Experience Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting environments with a strong understanding of financial concepts. Hands-on experience working with multiple accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or UltiPro. Demonstrated knowledge of payroll management systems including ADP or Paychex along with payroll processing experience. Familiarity with tax regulations, account reconciliation procedures, and financial statement preparation. Experience with SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures is highly desirable. Strong data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and proficiency in double entry bookkeeping practices. Ability to analyze financial data critically, perform budget analysis, credit analysis, and support account analysis activities effectively.
