Job DescriptionJob Description Accounting Specialist / Project Accountant Luxury Custom Home Builder Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of a luxury custom home building company. This position is responsible for customer billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and a variety of general accounting and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and possess strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Key Responsibilities Customer Billing & Accounts Receivable Prepare and issue customer invoices, progress billings, sworn statement billings and change order billing in accordance with construction schedules and contracts Monitor customer accounts and collections to ensure timely payment Maintain accurate records of draws, deposits, allowances, and client payments Communicate professionally with homeowners, vendors, project managers, and subcontractors regarding billing inquiries Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies Accounts Payable Process vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, and expense reimbursements accurately and timely Verify coding, approvals, and supporting documentation for all payables Manage vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments Maintain organized vendor files and W-9 documentation General Accounting Functions Assist with month-end closing procedures and account reconciliations Maintain accurate accounting records and job cost information Support budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow tracking Assist with payroll support and administrative accounting duties as needed Work closely with project managers to track project costs and budgets Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures Insurance 1. Knowledge of construction insurance policies, certificates, and compliance requirements 2. Understanding of insurance procedures related to construction projects and subcontractor management 3. Familiarity with builder's risk, general liability, workers' compensation, and commercial auto insurance 4. Experience reviewing certificates of insurance (COIs) and tracking policy compliance 5. Working knowledge of risk management and insurance requirements in the construction industry Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction, home building, or a project-based environment Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting principles Experience with construction accounting software and Microsoft Excel preferred Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism Strong communication and customer service skills Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines Preferred Experience Experience in residential construction or luxury custom home building Familiarity with job costing, construction draws, sworn statement billing, and lien waiver processes Knowledge of insurance Knowledge of Sage, or similar accounting/project management systems Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health benefits and paid time off Opportunity to work in a collaborative and design-focused luxury home environment Career growth potential within a growing company Company Description70+ Year old high-end General Contractor with a reputation of excellence and highly regarded within the community.
