Cranbrook Schools Early Childhood Center is seeking a Sr. Kindergarten Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position functions under the supervision of the ECC Head. They will have direct contact with immediate faculty, staff, children, parents, and volunteers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Planning, supervising, and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum in accordance with the philosophy of theEarly Childhood Center:
Attend all team planning meetings. Prepare a daily, well-planned environment with appropriate, meaningful, and interesting activities which stimulate children's involvement and learning. Facilitate children's learning and play in a non-directive, positive, and flexible manner, knowing when and how to step in, shift gears, and adapt activities to promote cognitive and social growth. Establish and maintain a print rich environment, varied socio-dramatic and sensorimotor opportunities, with activities to foster learning in math, literacy, science, social studies, music, and art. Help children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group. Gearing the program, expectations, and responses, to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, disabilities, special talents, and individual style and pace of learning. Treating all children and their families with dignity and respect, maintaining positive discipline using nonjudgmental language and tone of voice. Sharing responsibility for the ordered arrangement of the learning environment, arrival, dismissal, snack, lunch, and playground supervision. Assessing children, conducting parent/teacher conferences, preparing progress reports, and providing parents with regular classroom updates. Maintaining open and positive communication among team members.Secondary Job Responsibilities:
Serving on Early Childhood and/or Brookside committees. Attending faculty meetings, team meetings, committee meetings, Open Houses, Admissions Open Houses, and Saturday Testing Days. Providing opportunities and encouraging parental school involvement. Maintaining current CPR/First Aid Training. Participating in recommended in service, training programs, and other aspects of professional growth. Participating in set-up and take-down of the classroom each year.Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. Experience working with young children. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. Must have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity. Responsibilities must be fulfilled in accordance with the school's philosophy.
