Softball Season Employment Type Part Time About the Employer Helendale is a small, tight knit locality of 5,000 residents in Southern California's high desert alongside historic Route 66. The community is known for its outstanding recreational opportunities, including off-roading, golfing, hiking, swimming and a multitude of water sports including kayaking on Silver Lakes. Helendale is just a short drive to the cities of Apple Valley, Victorville and Barstow with their expanded opportunities for shopping, dining and medical services. Helendale's location also makes for an easy drive to Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead, Palm Springs and Las Vegas. Major airports are available in Ontario and Las Vegas. Helendale sits at an altitude of 2,400 feet and experiences warm days and cool nights throughout the year. Temperature extremes can range from freezing at night in the depth of winter to summer temperatures around 100 degrees on the warmest days. The climate has low humidity year-round. Requirements / Qualifications
1. Has a thorough knowledge of the Rules and By-Laws of the California Interscholastic Federation, the League, and the Helendale School District as they pertain to his/her activity, including the clearance of all staff members and student-athletes. 2. Understands the proper administrative chain of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance. 3. Serve as liaison for the school. 4. Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by the staff. Designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program as appropriate. 5. Hold a parent meeting, to include all relevant training. Train and inform staff and encourage professional growth. 6. Maintains discipline, mediates grievances, and works to increase morale. 7. Assists the supervisor (if needed) in scheduling, providing transportation needs and requirements for all games, tournaments, and special sports events. This includes driving district provided vehicles for student transportation to scheduled events. 8. Assists and is present for the necessary preparation for scheduled events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility usage times. 9. Monitors the grades and conduct of his/her participants. 10. Provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant by his/her presence at all meetings, practices, events, while traveling, and when returning from off-campus activities. 11. Completes paperwork on all disabling injuries on proper forms and submits to their supervisor by the next school day. 12. Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary, and contacts parents when a student is suspended, dropped or becomes ineligible. 13. Participates in the budgeting process with the supervisor by submitting needs for the next school year. 14. Recommends/selects materials, equipment, and uniforms (if applicable) within budget appropriations. 15. Is accountable for all equipment in his/her program and submits notification to the supervisor for any equipment lost, damaged, not returned or returned after the due date (within one week of the last usage/competition). 16. Arranges for issuing, storing, reconditioning of equipment, and submits annual inventory. 17. Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks and stores all equipment before leaving the building or area. 18. Supervises responsible areas before and after meeting/practice until all students have been released to appropriate supervision. 19. Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, parents, officials, volunteers and fans. 20. Responsible for reporting scores, statistics and information after every contest (if applicable) as required by local media, league representatives, and other appropriate venues. These duties may be delegated, while ensuring that they happen. 21. Make sure the supervisor is provided with all copies of any correspondence, bulletins, and rules that are handed out to students and/or parents. 22. Conduct at least one fundraiser for your activities. Fundraisers

prior approval by the Principal and ASB Advisory and funds should be applied to maintaining and enhancing the activities. 23. Sign and adhere to the "CIF coaches Code of Ethics" (if applicable). 24.
