Activities Assistant (SNF)

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility team. Duties Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, outings, and themed events that promote socialization and mental stimulation. Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs) such as walking, dressing, and mobility support during activities to ensure safety and participation. Develop individualized activity plans based on residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, especially focusing on memory care and dementia support. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to integrate therapeutic recreation strategies that support residents' physical and emotional well-being. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while accommodating residents' preferences and health considerations. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during activities, fostering a warm and inclusive atmosphere. Maintain accurate records of participation, resident progress, and activity feedback to inform care planning and improve program offerings. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities or nursing homes. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and senior care best practices. Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments is highly desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, staff, and community partners. Ability to assist residents with ADLs safely while encouraging independence whenever possible. Excellent organizational skills for schedule management and activity coordination. Familiarity with aging issues counseling or social work principles related to elderly populations is a plus.
