POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Recreation Services is responsible for the development, implementation, and supervision of the full scope of recreation services in the nursing center and assisted living.POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Full Time (a full-time employee is typically scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week in a regular work assignment.)RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.Put Customer Service First:
Ensures that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights. 2. Ensures that recreation services are in compliance with Recover-Care policies and procedures and federal/state regulations. 3. Serves as a collaborative member of the center management team and supports practices that focus on improving clinical, customer, staff, and business excellence. 4. Completes comprehensive assessment. 5. Contributes to the development of an interdisciplinary plan of care. 6. Plans individual and group programs in accordance with the patient's needs, preferences, interests, abilities, and are consistent with treatment goals and interventions. 7. Encourages patient involvement in recreation services planning. 8. Establishes and communicates a schedule of programming in accordance with resident needs and preferences. 9. Ensures implementation of meaningful recreation services for all patients. 10. Ensures that all recreation programs adhere to safety and infection control standards. 11. Documents of patient's response, involvement, and progress within programs. 12. Maintains records that improve future planning, individualized approach and continual evaluation and revision of programs. 13. Trains and oversees documentation of recreation services staff. 14. Provides information and resources to promote successful engagement. 15. Evaluates the effectiveness of recreation services to: a. Enhance quality of life. b. Meet program goals and performance objectives. c. Evaluate customer feedback and satisfaction. d. Reports findings and recommendations to the Center Quality Improvement Committee. 16. Identifies and assigns special projects to enhance recreation services. 17. Provides orientation for new recreation staff and serves as an ongoing mentor. 18. Provides regularly scheduled in-services for the center staff on the benefits and value of recreation involvement. 19. Provides supervision to recreation staff and volunteers to achieve delivery of quality recreation services. a. Develop positive relationships with members of the patients' families: b. Orients family members to recreation services c. Encourages families to participate in programs. d. Encourages families to make suggestions for the recreation programs. 20. Develop positive relationships with the community: a. Utilizes community resources in recreation programs; and b. Encourages community organizations to include patients in their events. 21. Provides ongoing communication to families, community organizations, and public officials. 22. Assesses, determines and orders necessary resources, equipment and supplies. 23. Prepares the yearly budget for the recreation department. 24. Monitors the budget monthly and works with Administrator to address budget variances. 25. Establishes and maintains an effective volunteer program through recruiting, screening, orienting, training, supervising, evaluating, and recognizing volunteers. 26. Keeps abreast of Federal, State, and local requirements and guidelines regarding recreation programming. 27. Acts as a resource person to other recreation professionals and community organizations. 28. Ensures confidentiality of all protected information. 29. Is knowledgeable of and upholds resident rights. 30. Ensures all department functions are congruent with vision, mission, core beliefs, corporate values and strategic priorities of the Recover-Care Health Care Corporation. 31. Utilizes technology to support departmental functions for communication, planning, programming, documentation, and evaluation. 32. Performs other duties as requested.SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center, by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (ADC) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS), or 2. Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation preferred or completion of theNAAP/ NCCAP
Basic and Advanced Management Course for Activity Professionals, or 3. Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting, or, 4. Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy. TSTs will be administered at the work site if required. 5. This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.BENEFITS 401K
