This course provides a comprehensive overview of developing positive and inclusive learning environments. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC's mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community. Course Content & Specific Duties:
Provide an overview of strategies for developing positive and inclusive learning environments. Emphasize practical methods for managing the diverse needs of students to promote academic success. Address techniques for establishing and communicating clear expectations for effective instruction. Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high-quality course materials align with college standards and learning outcomes. Maintain engagement through the college's Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course. Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution Excellent oral and written communication skills Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success Additional Considerations Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face-to-face and online/hybrid modalities. Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Experience working with community college students.
