Qualifications:
BTECH 506, is a 3-unit course that will examine the social, legal and ethical challenges posed by modern biotechnology in areas of medical care access, sustainability, biodiversity, animal experimentation, genetic data, informed consent etc. These topics will be explored in the view of relevant ethical theories and using case studies to explore these dilemmas faced by the biotechnology industry. This course is taught remotely during the second half of the 2026 Fall term (October 19 - December 13) and meets Tuesday & Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom. Candidates must have a graduate degree in business ethics, bioethics or a closely related field in another discipline (e.g. philosophy). A PhD is highly desirable. Preference will be given to those who have previously taught the course. This position requires all coursework to be performed in the state of California. The salary range for this position is $7,447 - $10,308 (3 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
