293395753 Job Description Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach course offerings throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. WWCC offers opportunities for adjunct faculty to teach courses at all of our campuses: Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, as well as online/remotely. Part-time/temporary adjunct faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. WWCC offers a wide range of opportunities in extended learning, dual-credit alternative high school, workplace learning, outreach learning, and personal enrichment programs. WWCC accepts applications for adjunct faculty positions on a continuous basis, though it does not necessarily imply that there are immediate openings. Applicants who meet the required minimum qualifications and submit a complete application with all required components will become part of the standing pool which the College will draw on as scheduling needs dictate. Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit materials at any time. Candidates who are qualified to teach multiple disciplines are encouraged to apply to each discipline's adjunct pool postings to ensure their application is considered. The faculty and staff at WWCC are a dedicated and innovative group of people focused on student success. WWCC faculty members are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality education for all WWCC students. Faculty use a variety of strategies and technologies to reach the wide range of students enrolled at WWCC. We are seeking a creative and dynamic individual with appropriate academic training and/or work experience in the field. Graduates of the Commercial Truck Driving program should plan to enter the workforce with the knowledge and skills to maneuver large vehicles on crowded streets and in highway traffic, as well as learn to inspect trucks and freight for compliance with regulations. The program provides the mandatory training for the Washington State Commercial Truck Driving License requirements for both new and renewing drivers.Desired Traits:

Adjunct faculty are expected to follow all applicable college policies and safety procedures while fulfilling instructional responsibilities.Essential Responsibilities:
The adjunct instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and supporting student learning within assigned course(s).Key responsibilities include:
Prepare and teach College-approved Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) courses in alignment with Washington State and Federal standards. Deliver instruction and hands-on training in areas such as pre-trip inspection, backing maneuvers, shifting procedures, coupling/uncoupling, and safe driving practices. Monitor student performance during on-road and lab instruction, ensuring safe vehicle operation at all times. Evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and assign final grades. Communicate course expectations clearly to students with varying skill levels. Utilize instructional tools and technology appropriate to course delivery. Maintain accurate records related to student performance and course outcomes. Be available to students for consultation related to coursework, as appropriate. Competencies Implement and practice diverse teaching and learning strategies understanding that students come with different educational preparedness. Design curriculum, assignments, and projects that align with course and college-wide learning outcomes. Develop student knowledge and mastery through consistent, timely formative and summative assessment. Design learning opportunities that recognize student diversity as well as foster a learning environment of inclusion and understanding. Ensure students have technological and digital literacy skills needed for success at university level academic institutions or professional-technical work occupations. Engage in continuous professional growth as well as participate in activities that promote the Walla Walla Community College's community and mission.Required Qualifications:
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college. For remote work, must reside in either WA, OR, ID, CA, IL, NE, NV, PA, or TX. Possession of a valid commercial driver's license and five (5) years of experience driving with a CDL Class A License without air brake, manual transmission or 5th wheel restrictions. Ten (10) years driving abstract with no violations in the past three (3) years. Preferred Qualifications 2 years' experience teaching CDL at a community college. Documented satisfactory completion of a Trade School certified in commercial truck driving preparation. Demonstrated knowledge of CDL state and federal laws and Washington State traffic laws. A passion for instruction of commercial truck driving and the mission of the two-year college and a demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of WWCC. A demonstrated understanding and value for the contributions that a diverse workforce can make to the success of the organization and the students served from a variety of cultural, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. A willingness to adapt to the changing needs of students, the college, and teaching methodologies. A strong interest and preferably demonstrated experience in using technology in teaching, including ability to teach or experience in teaching online courses. The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system. Experience teaching at a community college; teaching in a variety of modalities: In-person, web- or technology-enhanced, hybrid or online as needed.
