$45 per hour (clinical); didactic/lab rates based on course assignment Position Summary Salem University's School of Nursing is seeking dynamic, student-centered nursing professionals to join our growing team as Adjunct Nursing Faculty in the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program. Adjunct faculty may be assigned to clinical, didactic, laboratory, and/or simulation instruction based on program needs and faculty expertise. This role supports the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing education that prepares students for safe, entry-level practice and NCLEX success. Faculty collaborate with course coordinators, the Program Director, and the Dean of Nursing to ensure alignment with curriculum standards, student learning outcomes, and regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the West Virginia Board of Nursing and
NLN CNEA.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Instruction Supervise and evaluate students in clinical settings (acute care, long-term care, outpatient, and specialty areas) Ensure safe, evidence-based patient care and adherence to clinical site policies Facilitate pre- and post-conference discussions to promote clinical judgment and reflection Didactic, Lab, and Simulation Instruction Deliver classroom, lab, and/or simulation instruction as assigned, using evidence-based and student-centered teaching strategies Support skills development through lab instruction, simulation scenarios, and competency validation Reinforce clinical judgment, NCLEX preparation, and application of theory to practice Student Assessment & Support Evaluate student performance through observation, assignments, exams, and competency-based assessments Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student progression and success Identify at-risk students and communicate concerns to program leadership Collaboration & Program Support Collaborate with course coordinators and faculty to ensure alignment with course outcomes and curriculum Maintain consistency in course expectations, grading, and communication Participate in faculty meetings, orientations, and program improvement initiatives as appropriate Compliance & Professional Expectations Adhere to all policies and standards set by the School of Nursing, WV Board of Nursing, NLN CNEA, and clinical partners Maintain accurate documentation of student performance and attendance Serve as a professional role model, promoting accountability, ethical practice, and student engagement Qualifications Active, unencumbered RN license in West Virginia or compact state BSN required; MSN preferred (or enrollment aligned with regulatory requirements) Minimum of two years of recent clinical experience in direct patient care Prior teaching, precepting, or clinical instruction experience preferred Ability to teach across clinical, lab, simulation, and/or didactic environments Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Familiarity with learning management systems and instructional technology preferred
